Policy Overview
GharCaptain is committed to delivering high-quality renovation and construction services. We understand that circumstances can change, and we have designed this policy to be fair to both homeowners and the professionals we work with. Refund eligibility depends on the project stage, services consumed, and the nature of the issue raised.
Cancellation & Refund Timeline
Refund amounts are calculated based on how far the project has progressed:
Before Project Kickoff
- Full refund of the platform service fee
- Refund processed within 5–7 business days
- No deductions if cancelled before contractor assignment
After Kickoff, Before On-Site Work
- Up to 80% refund of the service fee
- Administrative and coordination costs may be deducted
- Refund processed within 7–10 business days
After On-Site Work Begins
- Refunds assessed case-by-case
- Only uninvested portion of milestone payments eligible
- Material procurement costs are non-refundable
Project Completion
- No refunds after project handover and acceptance
- Warranty claims handled separately under service warranty
- Escalation possible for gross deviations from contract

How to Request a Refund
To initiate a refund, follow these steps:
- Step 1: Email info@gharcaptain.com with your project ID and reason.
- Step 2: Our support team will acknowledge your request within 48 hours.
- Step 3: We review your case and confirm eligibility within 5 business days.
- Step 4: If approved, the refund is credited to your original payment method.
- Step 5: You will receive a confirmation email once the refund is processed.
Refunds are issued only to the original payment source. We do not process refunds to a different account.
Processing Timeframes
Once a refund is approved, the time taken to receive funds depends on your payment method:
UPI & Net Banking
- Typically 3–5 business days
- Instant in some cases depending on bank
Credit & Debit Cards
- 5–10 business days
- May appear as a statement credit
Non-Refundable Items
The following are strictly non-refundable under all circumstances:
- Platform subscription or membership fees (if applicable)
- Custom materials procured specifically for your project
- Third-party consultation fees (architect/structural engineer reports)
- Government permit and approval fees paid on your behalf
- Any work completed and signed off by you during the project
Dispute Resolution
If you are unsatisfied with a refund decision, you may escalate the matter. GharCaptain is committed to fair resolution.
- Escalate within 15 days of the initial refund decision.
- Your complaint will be reviewed by a senior customer experience officer.
- A final decision will be communicated within 10 business days.
- Unresolved disputes are subject to arbitration under Indian arbitration law.
Service Warranty
Instead of refunds for completed work, GharCaptain offers a structured service warranty. If workmanship defects are identified after project handover, we will mobilise the responsible contractor to rectify the issue at no additional cost within the warranty period. Warranty coverage details are specified in your project contract.
Governing Law
This Refund Policy is governed by the laws of India, including the Consumer Protection Act 2019. Any disputes not resolved internally shall be referred to the appropriate consumer forum or arbitration as applicable.

GharCaptain reserves the right to update this Refund Policy at any time. The revised policy will be effective from the date posted on this page. It is your responsibility to review this policy periodically. Continued use of our services constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
